Wednesday, July 29, 2015, marked the official opening of the newly-constructed Helping Hands Clinique (HHC) in Miragoane, Haiti. Despite the oppressive heat, more than 200 people turned out to witness this memorable event in Haiti.
Delegates from the Ministry of Health, government officials, religious leaders, community leaders as well as numerous special guests of honor and our volunteers, graced the occasion.
The ceremony was brief and remarkable. It began with the ceremonial performance of a trumpeter who sang the Haiti National Anthem “La Dessalinienne.” All in attendance paid attention to the opening presentations of Rev. Pasteur David Eliassaint and Dr. Herline Raphael in honor of everyone instrumental in the successful launch of the clinic.
The HHC was declared open by the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon. The HHC medical team administered medical care to over 300 people on the spot. To all the children present, a gift of over 150 school bags filled with school materials was shared.
Presently, the five-room clinic, now a hospital, which also has a small section for pharmaceuticals, a rehabilitation center, a laboratory providing affordable quality medical care for the people of the NIPPE community and its surrounding neighborhoods.
The hospital employed 4 Haitian Physicians, 5 Registered Nurses and Nursing Assistants, 2 physiotherapists, 2 Lab Technicians, and 2 Custodial staff.
The hospital is functional 24/7 providing medical evaluation and treatment, rehabilitation, counseling, vaccinations, pediatric services, nutrition services, maternal health care, and more.
In addition to the basic medical care provided, the HHC offers several community health education programs to help minimize the overall occurrence of preventable diseases. The public health program educates patients on prenatal care, clean water preservation, malaria prevention, HIV education, cholera, nutrition, as well as dental hygiene.
We are currently expanding the size of the hospital to accommodate examination room, birthing center, 2 surgical rooms and a Peadiatric Center.
We need YOU! We need medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, surgical equipment, maternity accessories, and more...
