“…and a little child shall lead them” (Isaiah 11:6)
At the age of 6, a young Xavier visited Haiti for the first time on a family trip. While playing, he realized that there was something different about his Haitian playmates. Many of them were barefooted with torn, dirty clothes. Xavier wanted to know why! At that point, without hesitation, he told his mother, "Mommy, I want to be a superhero, I want to help these children" and emptied his suitcase to give his clothes to his new friends. Upon returning home, Xavier and his family led his school and other students in donation drives to help some of the children in need in Haiti; giving birth to Helping Hands and Beyond.
He may not be able to fly or leap a building in a single bound but, through his simple, yet selfless act of giving, Xavier became a superhero to the thousands of people assisted by Helping Hands and Beyond humanitarian organization over the years. He is an example of the power we all have to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Making A Difference.
Calling All Superheroes!!!
Approximately, 70% of the people in Haiti live in abject poverty (less than $2/day U.S.), with an average annual income of $400 per year.[1]
15% of all the children in Haiti are orphaned or abandoned; estimated at about 750,000 since the 2010 earthquake.[2]
Over 11% of the population are moderately to severely underweight and half of the children under 5 are malnourished.[3]
Like Xavier, you too can be a superhero to the children in need in Haiti. Thanks to a generous donation of land in the city of St. Michele, Haiti, Helping Hands and Beyond is building a "Home for Children" with an onsite clinic to provide love, care, spiritual wellness and shelter to the many children without parents. With your help, the "Home for Children" will be a beautiful, warm four-bedroom home for up to 12 children with a main meeting area, kitchen, dining and living rooms, on-site medical clinic, playground and yard.
With $150,000, Helping Hands and Beyond can make this "Home" a reality.
